Belgreen drops Shoals Christian

The Belgreen Bulldogs battled back from an early deficit to extinguish the Shoals Christian Flame 7-4 this past week.

Shoals Christian put three runs on the board in the top of the first inning to take a quick 3-0 lead, but the Bulldogs would go on to score seven unanswered runs to get the win.

Belgreen got things going in the bottom half of the inning, when Cole King roped a triple, scoring his brother Will King. Will King scored on a passed ball to cut the Flame lead to 3-2.

The Bulldogs tied the game in the bottom of the second inning on a Landon Cox single scoring Jackson Galliano.

In the bottom of the third, Belgreen took the lead when Carson Cox scored on a fielder’s choice.

Adrian Reeves’ single to center field scored Caige Smith to give the Bulldogs a 5-3 lead. Galliano scored on a passed ball to extend the lead to 6-3.

Belgreen added another insurance run in the fourth inning when Will King scored on a fielding error by Shoals Christian.

Cole King had a triple and an RBI and scored a run. Carson Cox went two for three and scored a run. Landon Cox had a hit and an RBI. Will King and Galliano scored two runs each.

Alex Guidry went six innings on the mound, striking out eight and allowing four hits.

Belgreen lost to Deshler 6-0 earlier in the week.
