PC girls hold off Haleyville

The Phil Campbell Bobcats held off a second half surge by the Haleyville Lions to win 44-39 Saturday.

Phil Campbell led for much of the first half, leading 19-14 at halftime.

The Lions came roaring back in the third quarter to tie the game 28-28, but the Bobcats outscored the Lions 16-11 in the fourth quarter to get the win.

Kenner Scott scored seven points in the final period to help the Lady Bobcats get the win. Scott, a senior, led Phil Campbell with 18 points.

She was followed by Macy Hardy with nine points. Hardy, a freshman at East Franklin, is playing with the Bobcats now that the Rebels’ season is over.

Kaley Motes added five points, Faith Cook four points, Madison Branch three points, Hannah Welborn three points and Jade Roberson two points.

Phil Campbell will play Belgreen at Vina in the Franklin County Tournament Friday at 6 p.m. The Bobcats have won four consecutive Franklin County Tournament titles.
