Franklin football teams battle to end season strong

PCHS (4-2; 3-0) hosts Lauderdale County (7-0; 4-0)

THURSDAY

Phil Campbell and Lauderdale County are fighting for the top spot in Class 3A Region 8. Both teams are undefeated in region play, and the TIgers have an unblemished overall record.

Phil Campbell is 1-14-1 all time against the Tigers from Rogersville; the last time the Bobcats won was 1966. Phil Campbell lost this past year 41-0.

THS (3-3; 0-3) hosts Sheffield (1-6; 0-4)

THURSDAY

Tharptown is coming off an open week, and the Wildcats hope to get their first region win. Sheffield is also looking for their first region win.

Both teams have struggled in region play. Tharptown is averaging five points per game and giving up 65. Sheffield has fared a little better over four games, scoring 10 points per game and giving up 36 points per game.

RBHS (2-3; 2-1) hosts Hatton (2-4; 0-3)

The Red Bay Tigers picked up a big win this past week against Sheffield to keep their play-off streak hopes alive. If the Tigers can beat Hatton this week, it will almost assure them of a first-round spot.

Hatton lost to Lexington 42-8 this past week.

The Tigers are 31-9 overall and won this match-up this past year 47-8.

VHS (0-6; 0-4) at Cherokee (0-6; 0-4)

To say it has been a tough season for Vina and Cherokee would be an understatement. Neither team has won a game. At least one team will come out of this night with a notch in the win column.

Vina lost this past week to R.A. Hubbard 55-26, while the Indians lost to Phillips 76-0.

Russellville (6-1) — OPEN

The Golden Tigers take a week off following an easy homecoming win over Ardmore. Russellville retakes the field next week at East Limestone.
