Belgreen girls, boys notch wins over area foe

The Belgreen Lady Bulldogs avenged an earlier loss to the Vina Red Devils with a dominating 75-47 win, and the boys stayed undefeated in the area as they overpowered the Vina Red Devils 78-20.

In girls action, Belgreen led Vina 21-7 at the end of the first quarter and 41-16 at halftime, effectively putting the game away.

Autumn Bragwell led Belgreen with 21 points, sparked by four three-pointers.

Ansley Tate, Emma Dempsey and Gracie Dempsey were also in double digits with 14, 11 and 10, respectively.

Noelle Willingham (8), Katie Dempsey (6) and Kaley Chandler (5) also scored for Belgreen.

Rayleigh Guin led Vina with 18 points. Kaitlyn King finished the game with nine points, and Sarah Scott (8), Kaitlyn Athey (6), LaDava Davis (2), Sarah Harper (2) and Sarah Johnson (2) also scored for Vina.

In the boys game, the victory keeps Belgreen undefeated in area play.

Belgreen led 18-7 at the end of the first quarter and outscored the Red Devils 34-3 in the second quarter to take a 52-10 halftime lead.

Will Bonner led Belgreen with 12 points; Scout Bragwell added 11 points; and Collin Bonner had 10 points.

Will Donahoe added seven points, Bryant Hubbert six points, Carson Cox six points, David Plott five points, Brodie Vandiver four points and Isac Willingham three points. Cole King, Jackson Galliano and Austin James scored two points each.

Both Belgreen teams also claimed recent wins over Brilliant, with the girls tallying 68-18 and the boys racking up a score of 61-24.

The Lady Bulldogs Bulldogs put away the Brilliant Tigers early en route to the blistering 68-18 win. Belgreen outscored Brilliant 23-2 in the first quarter and led 41-13 by halftime.

Chandler led Belgreen with 19 points.

In boys action, Belgreen scored 22 points in each of the first two quarters en route to the easy 61-24 win over the Brilliant Tigers.

Belgreen led Brilliant 44-13 at halftime.

Will Bonner scored 21 points, all in the first half, to lead the Bulldogs’ scoring.
