Russellville library hosts story, craft time

June 7 the Russellville Public Library held its second summer program.

Library worker Perla Martinez read the book “Animal Parade,” written by Christine Ricci with illustrations by Tom Mangano – a story was about Dora and her friends and the challenges they encountered and solved along the way as they traveled to see an animal parade.

After reading the book, it was time to make a craft. Continuing with the animal theme from the story, the selected activity was making paper mosaic hedgehogs.

Also in keeping with the theme, the provided snack was animal crackers.

The next event will be June 19 at 1 p.m., a patchwork quilt program with Carol Fretwell, designed for children in fourth grade and older.

Events for the rest of the summer include:

  • June 26, 1 p.m. – Helen Keller and Braille, another program by Carol Fretwell.
  • July 5, 1 p.m. – The McWane Science Center will conduct a program.
  • July 9, 1 p.m. – Program on coding with 4H (grades fourth through sixth).
  • July 17 – Movie at the Roxy Theatre.
  • July 26, 6 p.m. – Pool party and awards for the summer reading program.

There is no charge to participate, but there is a limit on how many children can participate in each program. Those interested in attending the upcoming events should contact the library.
