Tharptown sweeps Belgreen

Tharptown’s Britton Kennamore knocked in the winning run to complete a two-game sweep of the Belgreen Bulldogs last week. The Wildcats won 5-4 in the bottom of the seventh on a walkoff.

Belgreen led 2-1 after one inning, but Tharptown scored three runs in the second to take a 4-2 lead. Belgreen tied the game 4-4 in the sixth inning before Tharptown won the game.

Hunter White led Tharptown at the plate, going 3-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored.

Jayden Mitchell went four and a third innings, striking out 12 batters and giving up two runs. Greyson Studdard closed the last two and two-thirds innings, striking out five batters and giving up one earned run.

Belgreen committed six errors in the game.

Tharptown 13, Belgreen 3

Studdard went 4-for-4 with an RBI and scored three runs in the Tharptown Wildcats’ 13-3 win over Belgreen.

Belgreen led Tharptown 2-1 at the end of the first inning, but the Wildcats scored four unanswered to take a 5-2 lead in the bottom of the third inning. Belgreen cut the lead to 5-3 in the top of the fourth inning, but Tharptown scored four in the bottom half of the inning and four more in the top of the fifth inning to take control.

White went 3-for-4 with an RBI and scored three runs. Carson Petree went 2-for-2 with an RBI and two runs scored. Mitchell and Colton Simmons scored two runs each.

Kennamore went the distance for Tharptown, striking out five batters and giving up two earned runs on three hits.
