Russellville Reads: Library shares special message – en española tambien

When you think of the library, what thought first comes to mind? Nine times out of 10, it will be books. However, the library is so much more than that.

The library was formed to offer resources to the community and free access to information and technology. Obviously, we do have books on many topics, but we are also here to connect you to the information that you need.

The library is a place where anyone is welcome, regardless of their age, race, gender, orientation or economic status. If you’re looking for information on a specific subject but don’t know where to go, we would be happy to point you in the right direction. It might be a book, it might be a website, it might be a community organization – whatever the case, it is our job to make sure you leave with the information you need.

The library cares deeply for all of our patrons. We strive to offer an environment where everyone feels welcome and accepted. The library operates under a strict privacy policy, so any inquiries are subject to that policy. Any requests for information are 100 percent confidential.

This week, we are mourning with other members of the community. While we might feel helpless in the face of tragedy, we would like to share a few resources for those affected by a recent loss. You don’t have to go through this alone.

The Healing Place in Muscle Shoals is a wonderful resource for those grieving the loss of a loved one. That phone number is 256-383-7133.

Riverbend Center for Mental Health is a resource available for those dealing with mental health issues such as loss, depression or trauma. Call 256-332-3971.

If you’re struggling with suicidal thoughts, the library wants you to know that you are not alone. You are loved, and you are cared for. This feeling might seem completely overwhelming and permanent, but it’s not. If you need help, please call the National Suicide Prevention hotline at 1-800-273-8256.

You can reach us at www.russellvillepubliclibrary.com and on social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat, by calling 256-332-1535 or by stopping by 110 E. Lawrence St. Thanks for reading.
