RB baseball receives grant

The Red Bay High School baseball team was recently awarded a grant from the 2018 California Casualty Thomas R. Brown Athletics Grant program.

RBHS was among 79 public middle and high schools in 32 states awarded a total of $83,000 to aid sports programs affected by tight budgets.

The grant, which was in the amount of $1,000, will be used to purchase new uniforms for the RBHS baseball team.

The grant is named for California Casualty Chairman Emeritus Tom Brown, who was an avid sportsman and believed that teamwork, confidence and sportsmanship help develop high achievers in academics and life. Since its creation in 2011, more than $660,000 has been awarded by the program to some 600 schools across the United States.

Public middle and high schools in Alabama with an unmet need for a sports program can try for next year by submitting grant applications for 2018/2019 California Casualty Thomas R. Brown Athletics Grants at www.calasathleticsgrant.com. Applications are now being taken, and deadline for consideration is Jan. 15, 2019.
