Phil Campbell notches area win over Sulligent

Katie Thomas hit a sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh inning, scoring pinch-runner Darby Elliott, to break a 2-2 tie and lift the Phil Campbell Bobcats to a 3-2 area win over the Sulligent Blue Devils last week.

Phil Campbell got on the scoreboard first in the top of the first inning, scoring on a Blue Devil fielding error.

The Bobcats scored again in the top of the third on an RBI double by Thomas scoring Olivia Knight to give Phil Campbell a 2-0 lead.

Sulligent tied the game in the bottom of the fifth inning before the Bobcats broke the tie and got the win in the seventh inning.

Thomas had a two-RBI night, and Knight went 2-for-2 and scored a run.

Phil Campbell 7, Belgreen 1

The Phil Campbell Lady Bobcats scored all seven of their runs before the Lady Bulldogs could get on the board in an easy 7-1 win last week over their county rivals.

Thomas crossed the plate first for the Bobcats on a fielder’s choice. Leeah Jackson scored on the next at bat to give Phil Campbell a 2-0 lead.

Thomas scored again in the top of the third to give the Bobcats a 3-0 lead.

The Bobcats extended their lead to 5-0 in the top of the fifth on a two-run home run by Jackson.

Abby Davis and Chloe Roberson both scored in the top of the fifth inning to give the Bobcats a 7-0 lead.

Gabbie Moore scored Belgreen’s lone run in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Jackson went two-for-three with two RBIs and scored two runs. Thomas went two-for-three and scored three runs. Davis went two-for-three with an RBI and run scored.

Emily Swinney allowed no earned runs, getting the win for the Bobcats.

Phil Campbell 5, Tishomingo County (Miss) 1

Tishomingo County scored a lone run in the bottom of the first inning before the Phil Campbell Bobcats scored five unanswered runs to get the 5-1 win.

Jackson hit her second home run of the week for the Bobcats.

Darby Elliott got the Bobcats on the board first, scoring in the top of the second inning. Jackson’s solo shot came in the bottom of top of the third inning to give the Bobcats a 2-0 lead.

The Bobcats added three more in the top of the fifth on a two-RBI single by Davis scoring Kenner Scott and Jackson. Davis later scored on a fielder’s choice.

Hamilton 13, Phil Campbell 1

Phil Campbell was held to a single hit and a single run in a 13-1 rout by the Hamilton Aggies.

Jackson hit her third home run of the week in the game.

The Bobcats committed three fielding errors.

Corinth (Miss) 5, Phil Campbell 4

Corinth defeated the Phil Campbell Bobcats on a walk-off single in the bottom of the fifth inning Saturday.

The Bobcats led 4-3 going into the bottom of the fifth, but Corinth sent two girls across the plate to get the win.

Corinth scored two runs in the first inning to take a 2-0 lead. The Bobcats closed the gap to 2-1 in the top of the fourth inning when Davis scored on a sacrifice fly, but Corinth extended their lead to 3-1 in the bottom half of the inning.

Phil Campbell took the lead in a three-run top of the fifth on a two-RBI triple by Davis scoring Thomas and Jackson. Davis scored on the next at bat to give the Bobcats a 4-3 lead.

Davis went two-for-two with two RBIs and two runs scored.
