County junior high teams compete

The Junior High Franklin County Tournament began Saturday at Tharptown High School with an eight-game slate.

B-Junior Boys: Belgreen 55, East Franklin 16

The leading scorers for Belgreen were Jordan Wright with 12 points and Brodie Vandiver with 10 points.  Andrew Green led East Franklin with six points.

B-Junior Boys: Phil Campbell 55, Vina 13

Cole Pace led Phil Campbell with 12 points. Hunter Griffith led Vina with five points.

B-Junior Girls: Tharptown 42, Vina 26

Autumn Montgomery led Tharptown with 18 points. LaDava Davis led Vina with 13 points.

B-Junior Girls: Red Bay 32, Belgreen 8

Sarah Eaton led Red Bay with nine points.  Noelle Willingham led Belgreen with three points.

B-Junior Boys: Red Bay 43, Belgreen 26

The leading scorers for Red Bay were Owen Terry with 14 points and David Lindsay with 11 points.  Jordan Wright led Belgreen with nine points.

A-Junior Girls: Red Bay 31, Belgreen 25

Cassidy Kuykendall led Red Bay with 10 points. Belgreen was led by Bailey Oliver with 11 points and Kaley Chandler with 10 points.

A-Junior Boys: Tharptown 47, East Franklin 25

Tharptown was led by Colton Simmons with 15 points and Hayden Moss with 13 points. Logan Collier led East Franklin with nine points.

A-Junior Boys: Phil Campbell 52, Vina 48

Phil Campbell was led by Mason Swinney with 20 points and Blaine Goodson with 18 points. Elijah Whitfield led Vina with 22 points.

 

Tournament continues

Tournament play will continue Thursday and Saturday this week.

Thursday

4 p.m. – Tharptown vs. Phil Campbell (B-Junior Boys)

5:15 p.m. – Phil Campbell vs. Red Bay (B-Junior Girls)

6:30 p.m. – Phil Campbell vs. Red Bay (A-Junior Girls)

7:45 p.m. – Tharptown vs. East Franklin (A-Junior Girls)

Saturday

10 a.m. – B-Junior Girls Finals: Tharptown vs. Phil Campbell/Red Bay winner

11:15 a.m. – B-Junior Boys Finals: Red Bay vs. Tharptown/Phil Campbell winner

12:30 p.m. – A-Junior Girls Finals: Phil Campbell/Red Bay winner vs. Tharptown/East Franklin winner

1:45 p.m. – A-Junior Boys Finals: Tharptown vs. Phil Campbell
