Joyce Rae Edwards

Joyce Rae Edwards, 76, passed away July 11 in Fairhope. She was born in the Hurricane Creek Community near Vina and was a homemaker among other avocations and interests. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Red Bay.

Services were held July 15 at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Red Bay, with Bro. Bill Harper officiating. Burial was in Ebenezer Cemetery, Vina.

She is survived by three children – Greg Edwards and wife Donna, Lake Butler, Fla., Phil Edwards and wife Melanie, Fairhope, and Andrea Hamel and husband Robert, Wesley Chapel, Fla; six grandchildren – Grant Edwards, Evan Edwards, Cole Edwards, Ethan Hamel, Laurelai Hamel and Emma Edwards; two sisters – Ola Mae Glover and Sue Tate; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Wayne Edwards; her parents, Ellis and Viola Humphries; one sister, Ruth Humphries; and one brother, Nolan Humphries.

Pallbearers were Grant Edwards, Evan Edwards, Cole Edwards, Bob Hamel, Paul Huffman and Mike Jones. Honorary pallbearers were Ethan Hamel, Laurelai Hamel and Emma Edwards.

Visitation was July 14, 6-9 p.m., at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay. She laid in state July 15 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Red Bay.
