Belgreen High School is getting an upgrade as a grant request for new iPads and cases has been approved.

The $1,200 grant went to Lisa Miller’s first grade class to help give the young students access to new learning opportunities that can only be found on the Internet.

The iPads will give the students daily access to websites that will help to improve and advance their skills in math, science, reading, language arts and more. The school already has some iPads, but they are shared amongst all of the elementary classes –Miller has one in her classroom that is shared between her 20 students.

Miller said she applied for the grant before Thanksgiving, knowing that, if the request was approved, the iPads would help make a big difference in her classroom.

“I sought this grant to provide more opportunities to my class,” said Miller. “I would like to express my thanks and gratitude that I have received this grant.”

“Technology grants are always of high importance for the FCCDC,” said Brad Bolton, of the Franklin County Community Development Commission. “We believe when we can put technology in the hands of our teachers and students, our next generation of leaders can succeed.”

Miller said she hopes the iPads will last a long time and further help her students on their paths of learning.

“Technology in the classroom is becoming more crucial,” she said. “They will be very beneficial to my classroom students.”
