Aug. 10, Russellville Police Department officers working patrol were able to locate and apprehend the third suspect wanted in connection with a vehicle break-in and theft that occurred Aug. 3.

The car break-in was caught on security video, allowing RPD officers to determine what vehicle the suspects were driving and also the suspects’ appearances. An Aug. 3 car chase resulted in the arrest of two suspects – Demarcus Leandus Smith Jr., 18, of Russellville, and a 15-year-old boy, who were charged with breaking and entering a motor vehicle and theft of property – and RPD stayed on the hunt for a third suspect: Zachary Charles Groce, 21, of Russellville, who was arrested Aug. 10.

Officers reported that after the suspect was taken into custody, illegal substances were found in his possession, and he will now be facing additional charges as well as being charged in connection with the vehicle break in and chase.

Groce is charged with breaking and entering a motor vehicle; theft of property third degree; possession of a controlled substance; and possession of marijuana second degree.

Lt. Scotty Lowery said Groce is likely to face additional charges after the upcoming grand jury session.
