One might say the smile on Vickie Menesess’ face told of the joy in her heart as she proudly received the Auturo Menesess Memorial Scholarship.

The scholarship, given by Cornerstone Church during awards day at Tharptown High School, is in honor of her brother Auturo, who was killed in an automobile accident last year. Auturo, who also attended Tharptown High School, would have been a senior last year.

The Menesess family came to America from Venezuela five years ago and has touched many lives with the love and kindness, according to Carolyn Baker, minister at Cornerstone.

Vickie will continue her education at Northwest-Shoals Community College in Phil Campbell.
