Golden Tiger golfers are headed to state.

The Russellville High School boys’ golf team played in the sub-state competition at Gunter’s Landing May 2. Their final team score was 311, placing them at second place right behind Guntersville at 299.

Leading the team in scores was Eli Hodges with a score of 70, Joshua Seal with the score of 75 and Eric Boutwell and Tristan Tubb, both who shot 83. Because the RHS boys golf team came in second, they will be competing at state May 9-10 at Hampton Cove.

“The guys have worked hard all year. State competition is really going to depend on mental preparedness,” said Coach Ryan Brewer. “We’ve set up some practice rounds, so hopefully that will help us out. But I think the guys are ready. Anything can happen in golf, but I expect us to play really well. If we do that, we could definitely win.”

Last year the boys won the state competition, and Russellville wishes them the best as they compete in the state competition this year.
