Trailing 7-4 in the semi-final game of the Vina Invitational Tournament, the Red Devils came from behind to best the Winston County Yellow Jackets 8-7 to advance to the finals, where they would ultimately fall to rival Phil Campbell.

In the bottom of the first inning, Vina’s Abby Hester walked, stole two bases and scored on a wild pitch.

In the top of the third, Winston County scored five runs on four hits and a error.

In the bottom of the fourth, the Lady Devils came back and scored three runs on walks to Brooke Brown and Kim Stevens.Kaitlyn King doubled in one run, and Hester had a two RBI single.

Winston County scored two more in the top of the fifth as time ran out.

Vina got their last at bat trailing 7-4. Singles by Annabelle Upton, Stevens and Brown, and King getting hit by a pitch, allowed Ashleigh Thompson and Greta Raper to sacrifice in two runs. Emily Renfrow beat out an infield hit as the winning run crossed the plate.
