Tennis team takes on Fayette County

Russellville High School girls’ tennis team played Feb. 29 against Fayette County. Leading the team in singles matches were Maleia Gist with the score of 10-0 and Emma Claire Bragwell with the score of 10-0. The RHS girls’ tennis team won singles match with the combined score of 9-0. Doubles matches went well for the girls’ tennis team. In court one, the pair of Grace Mitchell and Maleia Gist won against Fayette County with the score of 10-0; in court two, Lariza Garcia DelGado and Addie Scruggs won their match with the score of 10-1; and in court three, Rebecca Parrish and Bragwell won their match with the score 10-1. The RHS girls’ tennis team claimed victory against Fayette County at the match on Monday.

The RHS boys’ tennis team also played Fayette County. The boys won against Fayette County in their singles matches, led by Caleb Mayfield, who won 10-2, and Levi Hargett, who won 10-4. The boys’ combined scores set them at victory over Fayette County with the combined score of RHS boys winning eight matches and Fayette County winning one. In doubles matches in court one, Mayfield and Josh Williams won 10-7; in court two, Jake Williams and Hargett won 10-5; and Porter James and Jesus Betancourt won 10-3.
