James William Smith

James William Smith, age 72, of Russellville, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 7, 2016 at his residence.

Mr. Smith was a member of the Union Hill Congregational Methodist Church. He was a member of the Phil Campbell Rescue Squad and a charter member of the East Franklin Fire Department. He was well known as a community leader, a loving husband, and a wonderful dad and grandfather, and a friend to all.

The visitation was held Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2016 at Spry Memorial Chapel. The funeral was Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2016 at Spry Memorial Chapel. Burial was at Oak Grove Cemetery with fireman honors.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 53-1/2 years, Reba Seay Smith; sons, Kerry Smith and wife, Susan, Michael Smith, Eric Smith; grandchildren, Carrie Ann Smith, Andrew Smith, Matthew Smith; great-grandchild, Carmen Smith Sanders; brothers, Horace Smith and wife, Linda, Joseph “Junior” Smith; sisters-in-law, Mavis Turner and husband, William, Faye Swinney and husband, Sammy, Kay Chance and husband, Hubert; and several nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Hubert Smith & Lettora Bryant Smith.
