Bobcats fall to Hatton

The Phil Campbell Bobcats’ two-game winning streak came to an abrupt halt in Hatton Friday night.

The Bobcats struggled to get anything going offensively or defensively against the Hornets and the results was a 41-0 region loss.

“The competition level we played was a step up from what we’ve faced the past couple of weeks,” Bobcat coach Ryan Swinney said.

“Our guys have to understand they have to play at a high level every week to be successful. It doesn’t get any easier next week when we play Red Bay. We need to understand that every play counts on offense and defense. We have to play hard the entire game and play with aggressiveness.

“I’m looking for improvement in all phases of the game. That starts in practice. You can’t just show up on Friday night and expect to beat any team, much less quality teams. It all starts with having perfect practices and competing day in and day out with ourselves.”

Freshman quarterback Peyton Thomas completed 12 of 29 passes for 144 yards. Austin Riner caught three passes for 44 yards. Brody Nix caught three passes for 15 yards. Tristan Godsey caught two passes for 16 yards. Joe Hardy caught one pass for 45 yards.
