Hardy Eugene “Gene” Harris, 79, Phil Campbell, passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at the VA Hospital in Birmingham.

The visitation was Friday, March 21, 2014 at Spry Memorial Chapel. The funeral was on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Spry Memorial Chapel. Officiating at the service was Bro. James McCullar and Bro. Dennis Steward. Burial was at Bethlehem Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Betty Mitchell Harris; children, Jeff and Arlene Barber, Barry and Rita Butler, David and Becky Bagwell, Wally and Marsha Aycock, Frank and Tamila Harris, Mike and Marie O’Harie, Deb and Kenneth Peters, Keesha Harris, Paula and Yogi Setliff, Nacole and Ray Williams; 19 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, including Easton Allen; special caregiver, Connie Colburn; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his children, Lenice Jane Gasaway, Kristi Joyce Parker, Sandy Kay Gasaway Huckabe; parents, George and Zadie Harris; siblings, Arley Harris, Riley Harris, Blanche Waltz, Vera Gravitt, Harvey Harris, and Grady Harris.

The pallbearers will be Rus Setliff, Ryan Setliff, Tyron Williams, E.J. Barber, Jerret Butler, Mat Aycock, Ray Williams, and Yogi Setliff.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to our caregiver, Connie Colburn, and brother-in-law, Carl, for the extra love and care shown towards our family.
