George Elmer Markins, 77, Tuscumbia, passed away on Thursday, December 19, 2013, at his residence.

The visitation was held Sunday, December 22, 2013, at Spry Memorial Chapel. The memorial service followed in the chapel. Speaking at the service was his son, Robert Markins.

He is survived by his children, Robert Markins of Gadsen, Allan Markins of Mulberry, Fla., Rebecca Dishon of Tuscumbia, Gary Markins of Mulberry, Fla., Linda Bacon, Mary Thomas, Rosie Markins, and Loretta Domino; grandchildren, Amanda Rodriguez, Ashley Patrick, Matthew Markins, Janie Rollins, Shawntell Rollins, Stephanie Bridgeman, Alexandria Wynne, Justin Worthington, John Worthington, Austin Wynne, Timothy Markins, Matthew and Lillian, Crystal and Richard, Valerie and Emma; 28+ great-grandchildren; siblings, James Markins, Mamie Spillman, Barbara Simmons, and Martha Laine; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Artie Markins; and sister, Mae Carpenter.
