Kenneth Larry Hicks, 66, Russellville, went to sleep in Jesus Sept. 11, 2013.
Funeral services were Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013, at Sunnyside Church of God with singer Gwen Walker. Burial was in Poplar Creek Cemetery. Rev. Mike Walker and Rev. Richard McDonald officiated.
He is survived by his wife of 29 wonderful years, Sandra Hicks; sons, Scott Burkhalter and wife, Pamela, Russellville, Bruce Burkhalter and wife, Shannon, Hackleburg, and Joey Burkhalter and wife, Amy, Russellville; daughter, Kim Buchanan, of Russellville,
mother-in-law, Evelyn Roberts, of Russellville; brother, O’Neal Hicks and wife, Shirlynn, Town Creek; sister, Hazel Scott and husband Athel, Tuscumbia; grandchildren, who called him Papa, Michelle, Hannah, Ashley, Matthew, Christian, Taylor, Emily, Tommy, Jayce, Gracie, Anna and Brandt; a host of loving nieces, nephews, church family and friends.
Pallbearers were Bernard Akins, Ellis Ford, Bob Corsby, Philip Potter, Curtis Hicks, David Hicks, O’neal Uptain and Ronnie Potter. Honorary pallbearers were Charles Mitchell, Anthony Hicks, Keith Hicks and Mark Corsby.
Mr. Hicks was a member of Sunnyside Church of God for 15 years and a retired butcher with Winn Dixie and C&S Grocery.
A special thanks to Hospice of Tennessee Valley, especially RN Susan, Tamika and Chaplin Kay for the care given to our dear loved one.
