James Alfred Clement, 83, Russellville, passed away Friday, Aug. 2, 2013, at ECM Hospital.

He was a member of North Highlands Church of Christ where he served as deacon prior to serving as elder for the last 35 years. He was a former mayor of Littleville, a member of the Lion’s Club, an avid hunter, fisherman, golfer, runner, gardener, farmer and animal lover. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War. He was awarded the Purple Heart, the Army Occupation Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal, three Bronze Camp Stars and a Combat Infantry Badge.

Funeral services were Sunday, Aug. 4, 2013, at North Highlands Church of Christ with Trae Durden and Jack Henson officiating. Burial was in Franklin Memory Gardens.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Betty Joyce Clement; children, Elaine Malmquist, Donald Clement and wife, Kellie, Jeannie Isbell and Kim David; brother, Juston Clement; grandchildren, Pierce Malmquist, Petra Malmquist, Nick Isbell, Lucas Isbell, Savannah Clement; numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Pierce Malmquist, Nick Isbell, Lucas Isbell, Doug Clement, Stan Clement and John Clement.

Honorary bearers were John Thornton, Thomas Cochran, Jeff South and Elders and Deacons of North Highlands Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by parents, John Riley Clement and Pearl Della Garrard; siblings, Opal Sanderson, Donald Clement, Winford Clement, Rebecca Johnson and Wilburn Clement.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to North Highlands Church of Christ.
