Idell Cheek Skelton, 89, Russellville, passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at home with her family by her side.

Idell was born in the Gravel Hill area. She met her husband during World War II, got married and moved to Richmond, Va., where she retired from the American Tobacco Company. She moved back to Alabama in 2005.

Funeral services were Friday, July 19, 2013, at Spry Memorial Chapel with Bro. Ottie Sandusky officiating. Burial was in Liberty Hill Cemetery, Phil Campbell.

She is survived by her brother, Waymon Cheek, of Illinois; four sisters, Ida Belle Gann, of Sheffield, Myrle Martin, Lillie Mae Hall, both of Russellville, Cora Lee Burfield, of Phil Campbell, and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by both her husbands, Ernest Donithan and Aubrey Skelton; parents, John Manson and Mattie Elizabeth Raper Cheek; brother, Andy Cheek; sister, Icy Cheek Clark.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Hospice of North Alabama, especially Candace, Kathy and all her caregivers, Linda, Andrea and Jackie.

Her pallbearers were John Cheek, Marvin Gann, Wesley Holden, Kevin Cheek, Hunter Cole and Michael Malone.
