Clifton G. Smelser, 91, Russellville, passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at Huntsville Hospital.

The visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 26, 2013, at Akins Funeral Home, Russellville. The 2 p.m. service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Thursday, June 27t, 2013, with Bro. Guy McDaniel and Bro. Grant Caldwell officiating and Floyd Willingham, Jr. directing songs. Interment will be in Rock Creek Cemetery with military honors.

Pallbearers will be Larry Keller, David Bryant, Wade Willingham, Charles Ray Smelser, Russell Smelser and Steve Smelser.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margie Lou Smelser; parents, Oscar and Ida Smelser; siblings, Charlie “Doc” Smelser, Florene Price, Vida Mae Smelser, Jimmie Lou Barnhill, Syble Jarvis.

He is survived by children, Mary Lou Smelser Henry and husband, Don, Rickey Smelser and wife, Jennifer, C.W. Smelser; siblings, Lurlee Willingham and husband, Floyd, Mary “Bea” Houston, Elsie Smelser, Olene Warhurst; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; special friend, Nelda Dowdy.

He was a member of Posey School Church of Christ and a WWII Marine veteran.
