Mother accused of facilitating sex between man and 14 year-old daughter

A woman was arrested this week after officers say she facilitated a sexual relationship between her 14-year-old daughter and a 36-year-old man.
Lorie Hopson, 33, 9165 Franklin 81, Lot 2, Russellville, was charged with second-degree rape for allowing her teenage daughter to have sex on multiple occasions with 36-year-old Jose Jimenez.
Jimenez, of 295 Franklin 40, Phil Campbell, is also charged with second-degree rape.
According to Franklin County Sheriff Shannon Oliver, a family member contacted the Franklin County Department of Human Resources concerning the allegations in April, but Oliver said Hopson denied that a sexual relationship was taking place.
Oliver said the sheriff’s office was contacted directly on Sunday and told the girl was still sexually involved with Jimenez and an investigation was started.
“We were told that [Hopson] was taking her daughter to this man’s house and leaving her there, sometimes for up to a week at a time,” Oliver said.
“She said her daughter was threatening to run away with him to Mexico to get married and she was allowing the relationship in order to keep her family together, but that is still no reason to let this to go on.”
Oliver said the relationship between Jimenez and the teenager has reportedly gone on for three months.
“This is just a sad situation, especially since it involved the child’s own mother,” Oliver said.
Hopson and Jimenez are still in custody at the Franklin County Jail.
