VINA — The Vina Red Devils had to postpone and reschedule two games against Belgreen earlier this week, but the makeups held on Thursday proved who the more dominant team on that day was.

The Red Devils won game one 22-3 and game two of the doubleheader 17-0. The Bulldogs, who are fighting against inexperience and trying to rebuild after last season, managed only three runs and three hits during the two games.

Brody Roberts was the winning pitcher for Vina in game one. He fanned 10 batters in four innings and allowed only two hits.

Cody Renfrow went two for three with four RBIs, and Roberts and Drake Hester each went 2-2 with two RBIs.

The Red Devils scored 11 runs in the first, seven in the second and four in the third to put the game away early.

The nightcap turned out much the same as the first game, as the Red devils used three big innings to put the contest out of reach of the Bulldogs.

Vina scored three runs in the first inning, four in the second and nine in the third, with their last run coming in the fourth.

Neither game of the doubleheader went past five innings due to the offensive performance put on by Vina.

Andrew Hester was the winning pitcher for the Red Devils in game two. He struck out 11 batters in four innings of work and allowed only one hit.

Renfrow again had a big game at the plate by going 3-3 with three RBIs.

Roberts went 2-2 with two runs batted in, Zack Creekmore went one for one, and Cody Wilkinson went one fore two with two RBIs.

The Red Devils are now 6-4 one the season and 2-0 in 1A Area 15 after sweeping Belgreen, a region foe.

Belgreen will return to action Tuesday when hey host the Hackleburg Panthers in a doubleheader.

Vina returns to the diamond when they travel to Cherokee Monday afternoon to face the Indians.
