Mary Plylar Horton, 86, Russellville, passed away Friday, March 1, 2013, at her residence.

Mrs. Horton was a lifetime resident of Franklin County and a member of North Russellville Baptist Church. She was the owner of Lily’s Beauty Shop.

Mary loved going to the Senior Center, and she loved flowers. She was known for her African violets. People loved coming by to see her violets. She also carried the violets to Nashville to the flea market.

Funeral services were Sunday, March 3, 2013, at Pinkard Funeral Home Chapel, Russellville, with burial in Franklin Memory Gardens. Officiating was Dwayne Crumley and Mike Morrow.

Survivors include sister, Leslie Moody, Double Springs; sister-in-law, Fern Plylar, Russellville; nieces, Belinda Holland, Shirley Rice, Susan Webb, Freda Clark, Susie Laupp, Virginia Morton, Deborah Hamilton; nephews, Jimmy James, Ronnie Moody, Tommy Plylar, Bob Seay; special friends, Barbara Smith and Polly Burcham.

Pallbearers were Jimmy James, Rusty Plylar, Heath Smith, Bryan Smith, Tony James, and Tommy Plylar.

Honorary bearer was Greg Williams.

She was preceded in death by spouse, James Wesley Horton; father, Maud Plylar; mother, Susie Bendall Plylar; brother, Travis Plylar; sisters, Nancy Tompkins and Velma Padilla.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
