Woman accused of stabbing expectant mother

A Russellville woman was indicted by a recent grand jury for allegedly stabbing a pregnant woman during an altercation this past April.
Christie Hallman, 25, 514 Van Buren St., Apt. 1, Russellville, was indicted for first-degree assault, Franklin County District Attorney Joey Rushing said.
According to Russellville Police Chief Chris Hargett, officers received a call about 8:30 p.m. on April 12 from the Russellville emergency room that a 24-year-old pregnant female had been brought to the ER after being stabbed.
Hargett said after talking with the victim, officers discovered the incident had taken place in the 1300 block of Waterloo Road in Russellville.
Hargett said after locating the residents and speaking with witnesses, Hallman was developed as a suspect.
Sgt. Joe Hargett said the victim had allegedly gone to her estranged husband’s home to get money for their child when she encountered Hallman at the residence.
Joe Hargett said the two women apparently got into an altercation and Hallman allegedly stabbed the victim with a sharp object.
After completing the investigation, Hallman was arrested on the assault charge.
Rushing said Hallman’s case would be set for arraignment on Feb. 13 and would be scheduled for the April criminal trial docket.
