Dog walk leads to arrests

A man wanted on felony charges, who was caught by law enforcement while walking his dog, led officers to a residence where multiple meth labs were discovered.

Telisha Laray Patterson, 31, 1101 N. Washington Ave., Russellville, who was charged with first degree unlawful manufacture of a controlled substance, second-degree attempt to manufacture a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and third-degree receiving stolen property.

Joshua John Sneed, 33, 1101 N. Washington Ave., Russellville, was charged with first-degree unlawful manufacture of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and third-degree receiving stolen property.

William Channing King, 25, 1406 Pike Ave., Phil Campbell, was charged with first-degree unlawful manufacture of a controlled substance.

According to Franklin County Sheriff Shannon Oliver, King was walking a dog in downtown Russellville when an investigator with the Franklin County District Attorney’s Office recognized him as being someone who was wanted by the DA’s Office and Phil Campbell Police Department on felony warrants.

After taking him into custody, King reportedly told the investigator that the dog he was walking belonged at a residence located at 1101 Washington Ave. in Russellville.

When the investigator arrived at the residence to drop off the dog, Oliver said he realized the residence belonged to a man who was wanted by Franklin County Community Corrections on felony escape charges.

Oliver said at this point, the investigator contacted officers with the Russellville Police Department and the Franklin County Drug Unit to alert them that the man could be inside the residence.

Since there were warrants already issued for the suspect’s arrest, Oliver said officers were able to enter the residence to search for Patterson.

Oliver said once law enforcement officials entered the residence, they discovered he wasn’t at home, but they found something else they weren’t expecting to find.

“The officers ended up discovering four separate meth labs inside the residence,” Oliver said. “Three of the labs were located in 20 oz. bottles inside a clothes hamper in the bathroom. The other lab was located in the garage.”

Oliver said in addition to the meth labs, officers also found chemicals used to manufacture methamphetamine.

Oliver said Telisha Patterson, Sneed and King were charged in connection to the meth labs.

All three were currently out of custody on bond at the time of their arrests.

Oliver they are still in custody at the Franklin County Jail following motions filed by the District Attorney’s Office to revoke the bonds in their previous cases.
