Rev. Cecil Edgar Hood, 86, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2012, at ECM Hospital.
Cecil was born Jan. 15, 1926, in Winston County, but had lived in Franklin County for over 60 years. He was a member of Oak Grove Freewill Baptist Church, a retired farmer and railroad worker.
Cecil married Mildred Stephens on May 2, 1943. He was called into the ministry in 1956. He pastored at Oak Grove Freewill Baptist, Rocky Top Freewill Baptist, Edgar’s Chapel Freewill Baptist and Mt. Joy Freewill Baptist Churches.
The funeral service will be at Pinkard Funeral Home, Russellville, Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012, at 11 a.m., with Delmer Duboise and Orbie Pierce officiating.
Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Hood; children, Vernon Hood and wife, Aliene, Phil Campbell, Janice Miller and husband, Orbie, Russellville, Elaine Phifer and husband, Jay Dee, Decatur, Terry Hood and wife, Jennifer, Russellville; sister, Nellie Shirley, Anniston; grandchildren, Tina Copeland, Tracey Cook, Shannon Phifer, Darron Hood, Stephanie Hill, Sommer Pounders, and T.J. Hood; 14 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents, Frank and Allie Hood; sister, Magalene Hood; brothers, Lester Hood, Presley Hood and Hugh Don Hood; sisters, Stellar Voce, Pauline Motes, and Annie Mae Motes; grandson, Trent Allen Phifer.
