Lady Bobcats beat Hackleburg

The Phil Campbell Lady Bobcats won a close game 56-46 against the Hackleburg Lady Panthers at Northwest Shoals Saturday night.

Phil Campbell kept the lead for most of the contest, but Hackleburg took the advantage at 21-20 late in the second quarter. The Lady Bobcats took back the lead only seconds later, and this time that lead would not be relinquished.

“I thought it was a good game,” Phil Campbell head coach Darit Riddle said. “We didn’t know what to expect from them coming into the game.”

Phil Campbell had an 11-7 lead late in the first quarter when Hope Cook hit two-straight three-pointers to give the Lady Bobcats a 10-point lead at the end of the first.

Phil Campbell had trouble getting shots to fall in the second quarter, and Hackleburg used this to its advantage in mounting a comeback.

This culminated in the Lady Panthers taking their first and only lead of the game with 3:43 remaining in the half. The Lady Bobcats regained the lead on a three-pointer, but Hackleburg tied the score at 23 after hitting two free throws.

Phil Campbell went back ahead Cook hit another shot from behind the arc. The Lady Bobcats took a lead into halftime that they would not give up, ending in the 10-point win.

Cook had 24 points for Phil Campbell, Autumn Thomas scored 12 and Ciara Harville totaled 9. Also scoring for the Lady Bobcats were Whitley Yocom (7), Madison Hardy (2), Ashley Baker (1) and Tori Pace (1).
