Moore qualifies, will run for probate judge

Probate Judge Barry Moore announced Tuesday that he will run for the Republican Party’s nomination for the seat in 2012.

Moore has served as probate judge and chairman of the county commission since being appointed to the position by former Gov. Bob Riley in 2007 following the death of former Probate Judge Mike Green.

Prior to becoming probate judge, Moore served as office manager for HART Machine Tool, Inc., for 15 years. He also served 23 years in the Alabama National Guard, including serving a one-year deployment in Iraq.

Moore said that, if elected, his office would continue to serve the people of Franklin County as they have in the past.

“The Probate Office will continue to provide friendly, fast service to customers,” he said.

“As Probate Judge I will make unbiased decisions within the statutes of the law to protect the rights and estates of the citizens of Franklin County.”

Moore said that he would continue to seek federal and state aid for the county as well.

“As Chairman of the Franklin County Commission, I will continue working with federal and state officials to try to secure funds for county roads and bridges. In the area of law enforcement, I will continue to support funding to ensure that they will be able to operate efficiently to protect the law abiding citizens of our county.”

“I am very interested in serving the people of Franklin County by listening to their concerns and try to resolve those issues when possible. I would like to have more time to finalize projects that the county commission has started that are not complete at this time. “Due to the recent recession and shortage of funds we have not been able to do all the things we would have liked to do, but I feel we have made improvements in spite of the poor economy. I will use conservative values and common sense principles as Chairman of the Franklin County Commission. I will be a dependable and diligent official, and I will continue to make it a priority to represent the working men and women of Franklin County.”

Moore has been married to Deedra Seale Moore for 19 years. The couple has an 11 year-old daughter, Ashton. He is a 1990 graduate of the University of North Alabama with a degree in business management.
