Six county students inducted into Phi Theta Kappa
Northwest-Shoals Community College (NW-SCC) recently inducted 12 students into the Alpha Zeta Iota chapter of Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society during the organization’s spring ceremony on the Phil Campbell campus.
Induction into Phi Theta Kappa is held twice a year at NW-SCC on each campus, once in the fall and once in the spring. Students who earn a 3.5 GPA for 12 or more credit hours the previous semester are invited to join the honor society.
The following Franklin County residents were honored with membership this spring:
Ashley Kimbrough, Phil Campbell; Blake Reed, Spruce Pine; Seth Smith, Phil Campbell; Gary Kyle Umfress, Red Bay; and Kayla Williams, Russellville.
Alpha Zeta Iota was also recently recognized with the following awards at the 2011 Phi Theta Kappa Regional Convention: 2nd Finalist for Most Distinguished Chapter Award, Continued Excellence Award, Honors-in-Action Award, College Project Award, Five Star Chapter Development Award, Pinnacle Membership Development Award, and Host Chapter Award.
