Tharptown T.R.A.C.K.S. offers programs
The Tharptown Elementary T.R.A.C.K.S. afterschool program sponsors an educational awareness program each month for their students and parents.
To provide a program that is both informative and fun, T.R.A.C.K.S site coordinator Cynthia Scott partnered with the Alabama Cooperative Extension Office and together they present the monthly programs.
This month is national nutritional awareness month, so ACEO coordinator Katerina Cole came to the school on March 10 to teach a mini session on “Making Every Plate a Rainbow.”
Cole encouraged parents and students to add fresh fruits and vegetables to their diet. She also suggested that a good way to spend more time with one another as a family would be to prepare their meals together.
According to Scott, parents received copies of health recipes, a food pyramid and a cutting board. Students received stickers and a coloring page about nutrition.
