Red Bay takes two titles, BHS wins third in county tourney

The 2011 Franklin County Basketball Tournament wrapped up Saturday night with the Belgreen varsity boys, Red Bay varsity girls and Red Bay B-Team claiming titles.

Jake Tittle scored 10 of his game-high 20 points in the fourth quarter as Belgreen held on to defeat Tharptown 73-65.

Kelby Hallmark and Wade Berryman scored 17 points each to lead Tharptown.

In another classic final pitting the Red Bay varsity girls against Belgreen, the Lady Tigers regained the county title with a 43-40 win. Hannah Sharp scored 16 points to lead Red Bay.

Erica Smith was the leading scorer for the Lady Bulldogs with 23 points.

The Red Bay B-Team led never trailed in its 47-35 victory against Tharptown. Austin Sparks and Austin Humphries scored 11 points each to lead the Tigers.

Riley Nolan led the Wildcats with 10 points while Austin Daniel added nine points.
