Man charged with sex crimes

A Russellville man was arrested early last week for two sexually related charges.

Mario Caneles, 25, Freddy Mills Trailer Park, Lot 4, was arrested last Monday for second-degree rape and second-degree sodomy.

According to Russellville Police Chief Chris Hargett, investigators were contacted on Nov. 15 by the Colbert County Department of Human Resources concerning a report they had received from the mother of a 14-year-old girl.

The report stated the mother had become aware of multiple sexual encounters between her daughter and Caneles.

Officers with the RPD began an investigation into the allegations and after an interview with the 14-year-old female at the Cramer Children’s Center, warrants were obtained for Caneles’ arrest, Hargett said.

Caneles’ posted his $50,000 bond last Tuesday and was turned over to the town of Littleville to take care of a violation there.
