Burglary suspects captured

Two juveniles and a Russellville man were taken into custody on two separate incidents after police received information from local residents, authorities said.

Russellville Police Chief Chris Hargett said a 17-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl are accused of stealing three cell phones from two apartments located on the corner of Waterloo Road and Madison Street.

Hargett said residents in the surrounding community watched the teens as they broke into the apartments and ran off.

Authorities said the residents contacted the Russellville police department and directed officers to the general area where the suspects were headed.

Investigators said the two teens were found in a house they appeared to be living in on College Avenue.

Authorities said the teenagers were arrested within 15 minutes after being contacted.

The teens have both been charged with third-degree burglary, third-degree theft of property and second-degree criminal mischief.

Both were transferred to the Tennessee Valley Detention Center.

In a separate incident, Hargett said Cesar Fuentes, 32, of 507 Lawrence Street is charged with third-degree burglary and second-degree attempted theft of property.

Hargett said Fuentes was apprehended in connection with a break-in at 507 Limestone Street.

Hargett said a witness gave a description on Fuentes’ vehicle, which ultimately led to his arrest.

Investigators said Fuentes already had warrants out for his arrest for multiple misdemeanor charges.

Authorities said Fuentes was also indicted by a Franklin County grand jury prior to his arrest for second-degree forgery charges.

Investigators have not made any connection between the burglaries that happened last weekend with the teens or Fuentes, but admit that the break-ins have stalled since their arrests.
