Family night out to benefit ACS

Will’s Willing Walkers will host a Family Night Out Saturday, April 24 at 5:30 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church.

The guest speaker will be Patti Westmoreland.

Westmoreland was born in 1959 to  illiterate parents who sharecropped in Northeast Arkansas. The  youngest of four children, she learned to think outside the box and capitalize on every good opportunity that came her way and to learn from every adverse situation.

When college seemed like an impossible dream, God intervened in a mighty and  marvelous way. When her firstborn died in a tragic accident, God sustained her and comforted her. When she was seeking an opportunity to tell her story, God not only gave her a connection, Paul Harvey.

Harvey worked with Patti for 10 years. When she thought that a good man was not to be found, God was busily  preparing the heart of Grady, 250 miles away in Alabama.

Westmoreland recently married and now resides in Florence with her husband, and their three teenagers. They are members of the Underwood Baptist Church. her message of encouragement is humorous and inspiring.

The event was originally planned as a night out for ladies, but was changed to a family event instead.

Tickets for the event are $15.

In addition to the dinner this week, the team will host a doggie parade Saturday, May 1 at 1 p.m. at City Lake Park in Russellville.

“Anyone with a dog can dress him or her  up, and parade him or her around the lake in our parade,” Team member Sharon Cole said.

The event cost $10 per dog.

“We just want to get together with our dogs. It’s just a fun way to show off your pet,” Cole said.

For more information on either of these events, call 332-3210, 415-3270 or 668-5224.
