Wrestling coming to Phil Campbell

PHIL CAMPBELL – The Phil Campbell Elementary Parent Teacher Organization is working hard to raise money to make up for the shortfall in budget this school year. Like any other year, the PTO is raising money for different items need for the school. Items like bleachers for the gym and a storage building for equipment. But, this year is a little different, the PTO is also trying to help supplies need by the school.
PTO President Betsy Welch said the PTO works to raise money for anything the school needs, which includes copy paper, copier supplies and paper.
"It cost $7,000 per year to pay for copies at the school," Welch said. "We are definitely working to try help the school out with these costs because of the budget situation."
This weekend, the PTO will host a fundraiser at the high school gym. Ultimate NWA Pro Wrestling Saturday night.
The doors open at 6 p.m. and bell time is 7 p.m. Wrestlers that will be featured during the event includes Chrisjen Hayme, Will Owens, Patrick Bently, and Adam Jacobs. There will also be a salute to retired wrestlers James Wilson and Gene Harris, both from Franklin County.
"We are excited about the event, but we are planning more fundraisers to come," Welch said. "We usually do several fundraisers each year because one is never enough. We just try to do what we can to help the school."
Advanced tickets are $7 and will be $9 at the door. Advance tickets are available from any PTO member or at the school. For more information, call 331-2170 or 460-1530.
