Dot's Restaurant closes after years of business

After serving meals for more than 40 years, Dot Scott will finally serve her last lunch Friday afternoon.
Scott has been in the restaurant business for decades.
"I started 40-something years ago when my husband talked me into running a truck stop," Scott said.
"He said I didn't have to cook. I could hire it done."
Scott said she loved to cook for her family, but wasn't interested in cooking for the public.
"I didn't like cooking for the public," she said. "I cook at home, but I just didn't like to cook for the public."
Scott said all that changed when her son talked her into cooking at the restaurant.
"My son told me 'mom you just need to cook for the restaurant'," Scott said. "So I did and people liked it."
Scott said her restaurant has been at a couple of different locations, but it has been in its current location for more than 20 years.
"I've been here for more than 20 years off and on," Scott said. "One time, I said I was retiring. Well, I didn't stay retired long."
She likes to work, but lately running the restaurant with only two other employees has been difficult.
"I'm getting older and I am not able to do as much as I used to," she said. "But, I won't be out of work for long. Once I get rested up, I plan to find a job working part-time."
Scott said she has already leased the building, which will be used as a pharmacy, and she plans to sell the restaurant equipment.
So if you are in the mood for Dot's home cooking, you had better hurry because the last day for service is Friday.
