    Wanda Black

    Wanda Ann Jackson Black, 53, of Russellville, passed away Friday, July 24, 2009, after an extended illness.
    Funeral services were held Sunday, July 26, 2009, at Spry Memorial Chapel with Bro. James Phillips and Bro. Ben Phillips officiating. Burial was in Belgreen Cemetery.
    She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Curt and Ruby Jackson and James Riley and Nancy Johnson.
    She is survived by her husband, Carlton Wayne Black; daughter, Kimberly Ann Peppers; her boys, Stephen Black, Chris Black, Ben Black and his wife, Tiffany; parents, Waylon and Lavada Jackson; brother, Bill Jackson; brothers-in-law, Joe Black and wife, Joyce, Danny Black and wife, Vickie; sisters-in-law, Julie Black and Nancy Jackson; mother-in-law, Elsie Black; several nieces and nephews.
    Pallbearers were Jerry Landers, Cody Black, Jacob Black, Johnny Black, Jr., Jeremy Black and Tanner Daily. Honorary pallbearers were Zack Black and Jason Bogus.
    Wanda was born March 7, 1956, in Franklin County. She attended Spruce Pine Church of Christ. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister and friend.
    Willie Sue Hodge

    Willie Sue Hodge, 7, of Russellville, passed away Sunday, July 26, 2009, at Florence Nursing Home.
    Funeral services were Tuesday, July 28, 2009, at Spry Memorial Chapel with Bro. Terry Bendall officiating. Burial was in Franklin Memory Gardens.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Malverta Fowler; husband, Clarence H. Hodge; brother, Henry Fowler; sisters, Shelly Oliver, Bonnie Oliver, Lois McCarley, Hazel Nix and Mavis Oliver.
    She is survived by her sons, Glenn Hodge and wife, Ann, and Michael Hodge and wife, Laura; grandchildren, Jenni Hodge, Mariah Hodge and Clay Hodge; several nieces and nephews.
    Pallbearers will be Hirman Hodge, Wayne Oliver, Jason Oliver, Don Oliver, Matthew King and Jack Wellman.
    Claudia Whitehead

    Claudia "Mildred" S. Whitehead, 88, of Leighton, passed away Sunday, July 26, 2009, at Helen Keller Hospital.
    Mrs. Whitehead was a native of Franklin County, but had lived for the past few years in Leighton. She was a member of Bethsaida Missionary Baptist Church in Russellville. She had worked several years for the Dairy Queen in Russellville.
    Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 29, 2009, at 2 p.m., at Bethsaida Missionary Baptist Church with Stanley Hargett and Thomas Thornton officiating. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Bethsaida Cemetery.
    Survivors include, children, Shirley Coan and husband, Buddy Ray, of Leighton; Daniel Ray Whitehead and wife, Janice, of Summerdale; daughter-in-law, JoAnn Whitehead, of Jacksonville, N.C.; grandchildren, Carolyn Pennington and husband, Wayne, Yvonne Stewart and husband, Rodney, Randy Whitehead and wife, Mary, Sandy Prince and husband, Russell, Alicia Whitehead; great-grandchildren Jonathan Pennington and wife, Shannon, Matthew Pennington and wife, Katie, Nathan Stewart, Taylor Whitehead, Joshua Whitehead, Kaitlyn Whitehead, Justin Whitehead, Taylor Whitehead and Aaron Whitehead; several nieces and nephews.
    Pallbearers will be Taylor Whitehead, Randy Whitehead, Joshua Whitehead, Jonathan Pennington, Matthew Pennington and Rodney Stewart.
    Honorary bearers will be Wayne Pennington, Nathan Stewart, John "Michael" Boddie and Chase Stewart.
    She was preceded in death by husband, William G. Whitehead; son, Billy Whitehead; brothers, Howard, J. P. and Hank Shelton; grandchildren, Darren Ray Coan, Mary Jo Coan and Steven Whitehead.
    Charles Wilson
    June 29, 2009
    Charles A. Wilson, 68, formerly of Birmingham, passed away on June 29, 2009, in Valrico, Fla.
    He retired as a math instructor at Northwest-Shoals Community College in Phil Campbell, and was a resident of Valrico for the past 10 years.
    He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Joyce; sons, Gregory Wilson and wife, Elaine; Philip Wilson and wife, Johnna Beth; daughter, Lynese Wilson; brother, Gary Wilson and wife Sarah; grandchildren, Kristin, Carla, Aidan, Nadia and Brendan Wilson.
    Funeral Services were held at Brown Service West Chapel, Hueytown, on July 3 with burial in Highland Memorial Gardens in Bessemer with Rev. Jim Elrod officiating.
    Sybil Saint
    July 29, 2009
    Sybil Elva Saint, 83, of Glencoe, passed away on July 27, 2009.
    Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 30, 2009, at Crestwood Chapel with Ray Morris officiating. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery in Phil Campbell.
    Mrs. Saint was a loving mother that gave her family much joy and happiness. Her family will always remember and treasure all the moments of her life and the compassion she shared with her family and friends.
    She is preceded in death by her husband James L. Saint; parents, Flossie and Gussie Rice, and her sister Geneva Dovers.
    She is survived by sons, Michael Alan Saint, Clarkston, Mich., Douglas Edward Saint, Lapeer, Mich., David Norman Saint and wife, Kim, Lapeer, Mich.; daughters, Janice Burnette and husband, Gary, Glencoe, Betty Ann Ayers and husband, Jeff, Watauga, Texas; grandchildren, Shelly Renee Cook, Kelly Sue Fowler, Rebecca Lynn Harrelson, Aubrey K. Ayers, Megan M. Ayers, Shaun T. Ayers, Matthew Saint, Luke Saint; great-grandchildren, Ryan D. Sweeten, Briane E. Fowler, Brooke A. Fowler, Mitchell C. Cook, Phillip Harrelson; brother-in-law, John Dovers; and special niece Pam Johnson.
    Pallbearers will be Aubrey Ayers, Ryan Sweeten, Matthew Saint, Luke Saint, Shawn Ayers, and Steve Johnson.
