It's that time of year again. It's Watermelon Festival time. During the festival, the city will be booming with excitement and activities for everyone.
The Eighth Annual Watermelon Festival Bicycle Ride will be held on Saturday, Aug. 8, the week before the Watermelon Festival.
The bike ride is presented by the Russellville Kiwanis Club.
President Kathy Archer said this year's event will include a 65-mile and a 35-mile ride.
The cost to participate is $20 per rider before Aug. 1, and $25 per rider up until the day of the race. Helmets are required to be worn at all times by all riders.
Both rides begin at 7:30 a.m. with registration at 6 a.m. at the Russellville High School Fine Arts building.
There will be rest stops every 15 to 20 miles with restroom facilities. Water, a light snack and a sports drinks will also be provided at each rest stop.
Route maps will be available the day of the race and support vehicles will patrol routes during the ride for the rider's safety.
Showers and a meal will be available after the bike ride.
For more information, contact Kathy Archer at 332-3486.
