Southwood Garden contest winners announced

The flowers at Southwood Garden Apartments are in full bloom, and to celebrate, the winners of the Flower Blooming Contest winners were announced during their June luncheon.
Manager Thersa Scott said the contest is an annual contest, and the winner gets to put a sign up in front of his or her garden.
"This year, I got six judges for the contest," Scott said. "They'd drive through here every week or so to see how things are going."
Scott said the judging began in April and when it was over, the judges were unanimous on the winners.
The winners are Jessie Trapp, first place; Eathel Bentley, second place; and Betty McAlister, third place.
The winner also received a garden bucket in addition to the sign for the garden.
"This was our monthly luncheon," Scott said. "We try to have a gathering every month for the residents."
Southwood Gardens is a 50-unit apartment complex surrounded by trees and other greenery.
"Our apartments are available to senior citizens, 62 years and older, and to those with limited mobility," Scott said.
