McCulloch signs with Southern

Recent Russellville graduate Micah McCulloch had a distinguished career for the Golden Tigers.
He was on the varsity boys basketball squad that finished second in the Class 5A state tournament in 2008 and the team that reached the sub-region round of the playoffs this season.
But it is on the track that McCulloch has made the most noise, and he was recently rewarded for his efforts with a scholarship to Southern University in Baton Rouge, La.
"They have an nice atmosphere," McCulloch said. "And they have a nice academic program."
During his senior year, McCulloch won state titles in the high jump, triple jump and long jump. He was also on the 4×100-meter relay team that finished second at the state meet.
At Southern, McCulloch knows he will be competing in the high jump, long jump and triple jump, but said he will have to wait until he gets on campus to find out if he will be participating in any running events.
He said his favorite event is the long jump.
"All I have to do is run and jump," McCulloch said.
He said winning the state championships in track and all of his friends are the things he will remember most about his time at Russellville.
