Clerk robbed at knifepoint

By Staff
Jonathan Willis
Police are looking for a man who robbed a convenience store clerk at knifepoint early Sunday morning.
The incident took place shortly after 5 a.m. Sunday at Bradford's Chevron on U.S. 43 in Russellville near Pizza Hut.
Video footage of the robbery shows the man walking into the store with his hands covering each side of his face. He walked past the counter where the cashier was helping another customer count change.
A few seconds later, the suspect emerged from the restroom with a pink t-shirt covering his face. He came behind the counter and stuck a knife to the clerk's throat, while trying to get the cash register open.
The customer already standing at the counter threw a punch at the suspect and slowly retreated through the front door and called 911.
A few minutes later, the suspect got the cash register open, grabbed the money and ran out the front door.
Investigators believe the man either had a change of clothes hid behind the building or had a second layer of clothing on.
It appears that he ran up the hill towards Ronnie McDowell Avenue or he had a vehicle parked somewhere close by.
Police said the suspect is a white man, 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs 130-140 pounds.
The clerk was not seriously injured but was scratched on her neck from where the robber held the knife to her throat.
Anyone with any information is asked to call Russellville police at 332-2230.
