Estell T. Mayfield Smith, 87, died Monday, April 20, 2009 at the Red Bay Hospital. She was born January 16, 1922 in Red Bay to John Oscar and Maxie Nave McDonald Thorne. She was a homemaker and a member of Friendship Baptist Church. She was previously a member Lof Lakeview United Methodist Church in Minden, La.
Funeral services were held April 21, at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Red Bay with Bro. Billy Nichols officiating. Burial was in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
She is survived by her son, Jimmy Mayfield and wife, Lavell, of Red Bay; granddaughter, Cris Mayfield Nichols and husband, Trevor, of Red Bay; one great-grandchild, Adam Mills; one brother, J.W. Thorne and wife, Eupal, of Red Bay; two step-grandchildren, Janice McNatt and Mark Armstrong and wife, Cindy; sis step-great-grandsons, Cort Armstrong, Jason Oliver, Kirk Armstrong, Erik Armstrong, Clay McNatt and Levi McNatt; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Emeric "Doc" Mayfield and Darroll Smith; three brothers, Leslie Thorne, Junior Thorne and Elmer Lee Thorne; step-grandson, Bob Armstrong; and daughter-in-law, Barbara Mayfield.
Pallbearers were Brad Ivy, Trevor Nichols, Adam Mills, David Ivy, Paul Thorne and Jerry Thorne.

R. Lee Bishop, 75, of Hackleburg, passed away Saturday, April 25, 2009 at Russellville Hospital.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at Akins Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bobby Joe Poss and Bro. Steve Lawereance officiating. Interment will be in the Cedar Tree Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Aaron Bishop, Derek Bishop, David Howell, Kenneth Pugh, James Brazell, Shannon Bishop.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Alzie Bishop and Ollie Bradford Bishop; and brother, William Irvin Bishop.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mozell Brazell Bishop; daughter, Deborah Glasgow &husband, Eddie; son, Randall Bishop &wife, Sandra: siblings, Ruby Pugh &husband, Judson, Lucion Bishop &wife, Burma, Ella Rae Brown &husband, Marvin, James Hulon Bishop &wife, Fay, Betty Cummings, Wayne Bishop &wife, Marie, Sharon Howell &husband, Jerry, Hilda Elrod &husband, Alton; sister-in-law, Ruby Lee Bishop; grandchildren, Meagen &Meredith Glasgow, Aaron &Derek Bishop; 13 nieces and 8 nephews.
