Evelyn Virginia Kirby

Evelyn Virginia Kirby, 74, of Russellville, passed away Thursday, April 16, 2009 at ECM Hospital in Florence.
Funeral services were held April 19, 2009 at Russellville Church of God with Bro. George Sansbury and Bro. Jackie Davis officiating. Interment will be in Johnson Chapel Cemetery in Danville, Ala. Spry Memorial Chapel assisted the family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Lucy Walker; and three brothers.
She is survived by her husband, Troy Kirby; son, David Kirby and wife, Sheron; daughters, Marcia McClellan and husband, James, Rhonda Matthias and husband, Tony; grandchildren, Kim Woods and husband, Trec, Zac Kirby, Kristie Greenhill and husband, Michael, Kyndra James and husband, Brad, Maigan Matthias; great-grandchildren, Xander Greenhill, Arlye James, Paislee James; sisters, Betty Blankenship and Peggy Schrimscher; and a host of nieces and nephews.
The pallbearers will be Zac Kirby, Michael Greenhill, Brad James, Nick McSpadden, John Frazier and Gary Cummings.
Lucille Horton

Lucille Horton, 94, of Vina, passed away Friday, April 17, 2009 at Helen Keller Hospital. She was born in Franklin County on January 11, 1915 to James Benton and Georgia Stout Gober. She was an employee of Blue Bell for 25 years and a member of Burnout Missionary Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held April 19 at Burnout Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Dan Hindman and Bro. Sid Nichols officiating. Burial was in Burnout Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home in Red Bay assisted the family.
She is survived by three children, Roy Horton and wife, Maxine, of Muscle Shoals, Bob Horton and James Horton, of Burnout; one sister Lois McCalpin, of Cooper, Texas; two brothers, Marlin Gober and wife, Christine, and Burlion Gober and wife, Willie Mae, all of Burnout; seven grandchildren, Pam Andrews and husband, David, Melissa Self and husband, Mike, Sandy Wilson and husband, Blake, Eric Horton, Gina Raper and husband, Donald, Tony Horton and wife, Lynette, and Tammy Duncan and husband, Byron; 13 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy A. Horton, her parents and daughter-in-law, Ruby Horton.
Pallbearers were Tony Horton, Anthony Horton, Eric Horton, Tyler Duncan, Joshua Andrews and Heath Thorne.
Ira Blacklidge Thompson

Ira Blacklidge Thompson, of Birmingham, passed away Saturday, april 18, 2009 at her home in Birmingham. She was born February 15, 1922 in Pleasant Site, Ala. to James Price and Rhoda Nelson Blacklidge. She attended the Church of Christ.
Funeral services were held April 20 at Hillcrest memorial Gardens with Bro. Dwayne Spivey officiating. Burial was in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Deaton Funeral Home in Red Bay assisted the family.
She is survived by two nieces, Sue Crane and husband, Bill, and Lou Powell, all of Birmingham; one nephew, Jerry Smelser and wife, Mildred, of Huntsville, Ala.; four great-nieces; three great-nephews; and several great-great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Ruby Blacklidge Smelser and Elizabeth Smelser.
