Enjoying beef

One of our favorite meat servings is lean beef. According to the National Cattleman's Beef Association, "Beef is one of the most nutrient-rich foods.
When you serve a 3 oz. serving of lean beef it is an excellent source of protein, zinc, vitamin B12, selenium and phosphorus, and a good source of niacin, vitamin B6, iron and riboflavin.
Half the fat in beef is monounsaturated, the same heart-healthy kind found in olive oil".
Lean roasts are an excellent choice for your family. They go a long way. After using it as meat serving for a meal, place the remainder in the refrigerator. It is great to use for roast beef sandwiches for lunch boxes or chopped and used for a good hearty pot of beef stew. A roast is a very economical purchase for a family.
When shopping for beef, choose meat last to ensure the beef stays cold.
Beef should have a bright cherry color. Refrigerate or freeze roasts immediately.
Defrost in refrigerator. After taking roast from oven let it stand to make carving easier. Use a sharp carving knife to slice.
If the roast is tender you can have thicker slices.
Always wash your hands with soap before handling meats. Clean up any dripping on counter tops.
A great suggestion in cooking a roast is a step that makes your meal easier.
While the roast is cooking, spray a nonstick cooking spray on a baking sheet and place carrots, sweet potatoes, and onions.
Bake in the oven with the roast. These are good suggestions from the Beef Association.
Beef roasts are best seasoned with flavorful rubs then roasted. Use your favorite rub, herbs, or oils to rub your roast before cooking.
This will make your whole house smell inviting as you plan a delicious meal for your friends or family.
Now, cook some delicious rolls, make a jug of sweet tea and dive into that good meal you've prepared.
