Alexander leads Bobcats to B-team title

PHIL CAMPBELL – The Phil Campbell B-Team boys basketball team wasted little time taking control of its Franklin County Basketball Tournament finals match-up against Belgreen.
The Bobcats jumped out to a 12-4 lead midway through the first quarter and never looked back as they claimed the title in a 63-46 victory against the Bulldogs.
Phil Campbell pushed its advantage to 20 points by halftime, but Belgreen rallied in the third quarter and cut the deficit to eight points heading into the final quarter.
The Bobcats opened the fourth on a 7-0 run to put the game away.
Cory Alexander scored a game-high 19 points for Phil Campbell while Landon Hutcheson and Zach Watkins added 12 points each for the Bobcats.
Also scoring for Phil Campbell were Mason Nix (7), D.J. Hall (6), Trevor Hodge (4), Trent Jones (1) and Rile Hughes (1).
Austin Oldag was the leading scorer for Belgreen with 14 points while Daniel Melecio scored 13.
Also scoring for the Bulldogs were Samuel Melecio (8), Cody Glasgow (7) and Drew Quillen (4).
